Regional Planning

BREDD is charged with regional economic development planning for Mineral, Ravalli and Missoula Counties. Every 5 years we publish a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). The CEDS process involves representatives from a variety of sectors; local government, businesses, nonprofits, local development organizations and private citizens. This collaborative effort identifies the region’s strengths and weaknesses and seeks to point the way for economic growth and the long term creation of good jobs for the region’s residents.  BREDD also updates the CEDS annually and has amended it to include more focused strategies when needed such as our Community Trade Adjustments Assistance Strategy developed to address the trade-related changes in our region’s forest products industry throughout the 2000s. The CEDS is required to apply for some types of government funding and is a good source of regional data for grant applicants.
