The purpose of the Ravalli County Economic Development Authority (RCEDA) is to promote, stimulate, develop and enhance the general welfare, commerce, economic development and prosperity of Ravalli County, the State of Montana, and its citizens.
Missoula County, Montana covers approximately 2,600 square miles in the western part of the state. Five large valleys and two major rivers wind through this mountainous region. Missoula County has a population of over 100,000 people and the county seat is Missoula. Missoula County is governed by three Commissioners, each elected to staggered six-year terms. The current Commissioners are Jean Curtiss, Bill Carey, and Barbara Evans
The Mineral County Economic Development Corporation is organized to assist in the development of projects, undertakings, studies, training programs, workshops and other activities beneficial to the public interest, in cooperation with local governmental, civic bodies and other groups, corporations or individuals to: foster planning, development, and improvement in the county ; to promote social welfare, relief for the unemployed or underemployed; to secure adequate housing, community facilities and other related facilities and services conducive to the progress and general welfare of the community; to conduct research in the public interest for purposes of aiding the community by attracting new industry to the county and by encouraging the development and retention of existing economic activities. The Montana World Trade Center (MWTC) works to increase international trade through public-private partnerships, business networking, and student education. In the entire state of Montana, and well beyond its borders, there is no other source of information and access to global trade opportunities that is comparable to the Montana World Trade Center. Since its inception, MWTC has undertaken a dual role as consultant and advocate, assisting our member businesses to establish and strengthen international commercial capabilities, while striving to develop untapped international trade opportunities. Developing a partnership with MWTC will help your business realize international sales and expansion goals that would otherwise be unattainable.
The purpose of the Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) program is “to encourage and improve the capability of State and local units of government and local non-profit organizations in rural areas to plan, develop, and carry out programs for resource conservation and development.” (Public Law 97-98, Sec. 1528)
The Bitter Root RC&D’s goal is to promote conscientious rural development of the area’s natural and human resources while maintaining or improving the quality of those resources and the quality of life. The RC&D supports and encourages the comprehensive and coordinated efforts of local citizens, government and other entities to better manage protect and utilize the area’s human and natural resources.
MSU Extension Mineral County is located in Superior, in the library building. In addition to 4-H, Natural Resource, Horticulture, Economic and Community Development, Family and Consumer Sciences, the extension office is home to the Mineral County Conservation District, Mineral County Weed District, Mineral County Office of Economic Development and the Mineral County Community Foundation (MCCF). The Economic Development Administration (EDA) was established under the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965 (42 U.S.C. § 3121), as amended, to generate jobs, help retain existing jobs, and stimulate industrial and commercial growth in economically distressed areas of the United States. EDA assistance is available to rural and urban areas of the Nation experiencing high unemployment, low income, or other severe economic distress.
The Missoula Economic Partnership (MEP) is a public-private partnership with $3 million (over the next five years) devoted to the Best Place Project, an economic-development program designed to create 2,500 quality jobs, retain and grow local businesses, recruit “best fit” companies and attract capital investment. The MEP’s first President Jim Bowman brings his experience in public and private sector real-estate development, economic development strategy, business retention and recruitment, project management and finance to Missoula’s economic development landscape.

Ravalli County covers 2,400 square miles. Our county shares the borders with the State of Idaho, Counties of Missoula, Beaverhead and Granite. Our population is 40,000. Our county is the log home and bio tech industrial center which houses Rocky Mountain lab a BSL 4 lab, and GSK which are both located in Hamilton. We are the only county in the state with five commissioners and four year terms. The Bitterroot River flows north along the entire length of our valley which is approximately 96 miles in length.
