Seeley is Potential Top Notch Nordic Destination

(May 25, 2011)   A Seeley Lake Nordic Skiing and Training Events Center feasibility study found that Seeley Lake has the potential to become a top notch Nordic ski destination. Morton Trails and CTA Group say that the region’s unique combination of great snow conditions and rolling terrain combined with community support for economic development opportunities make this facility an exciting and worthy economic and community development project that would benefit the entire region. The findings will be presented to the public Thursday May 26, 2011 at the Seeley Lake Elementary School at 6:00 pm.

A partnership between the Seeley Lake Nordic Challenge Steering Committee, Missoula Area Economic Development Corporation (MAEDC), and the Bitterroot Economic Development District (BREDD) commissioned the feasibility study in the fall on 2010.

The 78 page feasibility study identifies options that include a racecourse that meets national certification standards, the ability to change the racecourse’s configuration for various events and expanded recreational opportunities attracting local, national and international tourists. This increase in winter use would stabilize and diversify the region’s economy at one of its most vulnerable seasons.
